Rococo Carved Gilded Upholstered Bed
Drawing from 18th-century French Louis XV furniture, this bed combines a shaped carved timber frame with a curved upholstered headboard, moulded footboard and applied gilt ornament.
The headboard follows a serpentine profile with a raised central crest, curved shoulders and carved scroll transitions. The upper rail carries foliate and rocaille carving, concentrated at the crest and along the side sections. The upholstered panel uses button tufting arranged in a regular diamond pattern, with the textile extending across the full headboard field. The footboard has a broad shaped rail with recessed central detailing, carved botanical motifs and cabriole-style side supports terminating in carved feet.
The upholstery uses a textured ivory textile with coordinated patterned bedding, while the timber frame is finished in a pale painted tone with gilded carved details.
