Drawing from 18th-century French Louis XV furniture, this bed combines a shaped carved timber frame with a large upholstered headboard, curved footboard and applied gilded ornament.
The headboard follows a symmetrical serpentine profile, rising to a raised central crest and descending through curved shoulders. The frame is outlined with moulded timber and concentrated foliate and scroll carving at the crest, upper transitions and side terminals. The upholstered panel uses deep button tufting, with evenly spaced buttons creating a structured diamond pattern across the headboard. The footboard incorporates a recessed upholstered panel within a carved frame, supported by cabriole-style legs with shaped knees and carved feet.
The upholstery uses a pale ivory patterned textile, with floral and botanical motifs visible across the headboard, bedding and coordinated cushions. A matching upholstered bench repeats the carved frame, curved arms and tufted seat construction.
