Modernist Canopy Bed Chamber
Drawing from 20th-century modernist furniture and architectural frame construction, this bed chamber uses a rectilinear black frame organized around a four-poster canopy and integrated upholstered panels.
The structure is formed from square-section vertical posts connected by horizontal rails, creating a continuous open canopy above the mattress platform. The upper frame extends beyond the headboard and footboard, while the side rails remain visually exposed. The headboard consists of a large upholstered rectangular panel positioned within the rear frame, with a matching upholstered panel forming the footboard. The mattress platform sits within the timber or panelled base, maintaining a low horizontal proportion.
The upholstery uses a plain ivory textile, providing a consistent surface against the dark frame. The black finish defines the structural geometry and separates the upholstered elements from the surrounding framework.
