Drawing from French Rococo and late Baroque decorative furniture, this chair features a deeply carved timber frame with an upholstered rectangular back, shaped crest rail and pronounced serpentine seat rail. The crest is centred by a carved shell and scrolling ornament, while the frame incorporates acanthus foliage, foliate cartouches and shell motifs across the apron and legs. The cabriole legs terminate in carved feet, reinforcing the continuous curved profile characteristic of eighteenth-century French seating. The upholstery shown combines a floral botanical textile on the back with a pleated satin-like seat, illustrating the period preference for patterned textiles and decorative upholstery. Suited to formal dining rooms, drawing rooms, salons and classically detailed interiors.
The frame can be crafted in teak wood, with oak or ash wood also available to suit the desired finish and interior scheme.
