Drawing from French Louis XV and eighteenth-century provincial seating, this armchair is defined by its shaped cane back, open arm supports and pronounced cabriole legs. The arched backrest follows a softly curved outline and is fitted with woven cane within a carved timber frame, while the padded seat provides a contrasting upholstered surface. The open arms extend from the back uprights through gently shaped supports, maintaining the chair's light visual structure. Four cabriole legs curve outward before tapering into small scroll feet, with restrained carved detailing following the contours of the frame. The distressed dark finish gives the chair a more provincial interpretation of French period furniture while retaining its characteristic curved construction.
