Rococo Gilded Tufted Bed
Drawing from 18th-century French Louis XV furniture and Rococo decorative design, this bed combines a carved timber frame with a shaped upholstered headboard, gilded ornament and a coordinated upholstered foot bench.
The headboard follows a strongly curved symmetrical profile, rising to a central carved crest and descending through recessed shoulders. Its frame carries scrolling foliage, shell-derived ornament and carved floral details, with the decoration concentrated along the crest and outer terminals. The central upholstered panel uses button tufting arranged in a diamond pattern, framed by gathered textile sections that follow the contours of the timber surround.
The bed frame is finished in gilded wood, with curved supports and carved feet visible beneath the upholstered structure. The bedding uses ivory patterned textiles, with a decorative lace-edged coverlet and coordinated cushions. The matching foot bench repeats the gilded carved frame and gathered upholstery.
