Drawing from French Rococo and Italian decorative furniture, this bombe commode is defined by a strongly curved case, painted floral decoration and selectively gilded carved ornament. The convex front and bowed sides create the characteristic serpentine profile, while three graduated drawers follow the curvature of the carcass. Painted bouquets of roses, leaves and delicate floral sprays are arranged across the drawer fronts and side panels, framed by gilded C-scrolls, foliage and shell-like details. The shaped lower apron incorporates a central carved floral motif, while the cabriole legs extend from the case with softly curved profiles and restrained gilt accents at the feet. The pale painted ground provides a clear surface for the polychrome floral decoration and gilded detailing.
Suitable for bedrooms, dressing rooms, drawing rooms, entry halls and classical European interiors.
The frame can be crafted in teak wood, with oak or ash wood also available to suit the desired finish and interior scheme.
