French Louis XVI-Inspired Oval Cane-Back Dining Chair
Drawing from French Louis XVI and Neoclassical seating, this dining chair is defined by its oval cane back, turned legs and restrained architectural detailing. The oval backrest is enclosed within a broad shaped timber frame and fitted with woven cane, while the open cane panel creates a lighter visual profile. The upholstered seat has a gently rounded front edge and is finished in a striped textile, framed by a structured seat rail with subtle moulding. Four tapered turned legs incorporate repeated ring details and terminate in small rounded feet, maintaining the vertical proportions associated with late eighteenth-century French seating. The natural dark wood finish highlights the grain and curved frame, while the contrasting upholstery introduces a more informal interpretation of the period form.
