Drawing from late eighteenth-century English Neoclassical and Sheraton-influenced seating, this dining chair is defined by its tall open back, carved lyre motif and restrained linear construction. The rectangular back frame has gently shaped upper corners, enclosing a central lyre-shaped splat composed of vertical turned elements and scrolling carved details. The openwork back allows the decorative splat to remain visually prominent, while the upholstered seat is finished with closely spaced decorative nailhead trim. Four straight, slender legs maintain the chair's architectural proportions, with the rear legs continuing directly into the tall back uprights. The warm wood finish and muted striped upholstery reinforce its period character without excessive ornament.
