Charbonnet — French Oval-Back Dining Chair
Charbonnet — French Oval-Back Dining Chair
French Louis XVI-Inspired Oval-Back Dining Chair
Drawing from French Louis XVI and Neoclassical seating, this dining chair is defined by its oval upholstered back, fluted legs and restrained architectural detailing. The oval medallion backrest is enclosed within a moulded timber frame and fully upholstered at the centre, while the seat follows a broad, gently shaped profile with closely spaced nailhead trim along the perimeter. The exposed frame has a distressed painted finish, with subtle moulding and carved detailing at the seat rail. Four tapered, fluted legs are finished with restrained turned and carved transitions, reinforcing the vertical proportions associated with late eighteenth-century French Neoclassical furniture. The patterned upholstery introduces a textile contrast while maintaining the chair's formal silhouette.
Suitable for dining rooms, breakfast rooms, drawing rooms, bedrooms and French Neoclassical interiors.
The frame can be crafted in teak wood, with oak or ash wood also available to suit the desired finish and interior scheme.
Made to order, with upholstery and finish selected for each commission.
