Louis XVI-Inspired Carved Frame Sofa
Drawing from late 18th-century French Louis XVI seating, this sofa uses a long rectangular upholstered body with exposed timber framing, straight side posts and a restrained horizontal back rail.
The frame incorporates narrow moulded rails along the back and lower apron, with carved square corner blocks at the front. The side posts continue into tapered legs with turned collars and subtle fluting, while the central front support repeats the same vertical profile. The arms are formed as enclosed upholstered panels within straight timber frames, maintaining the sofa’s symmetrical geometry.
The upholstery uses a light neutral textile with a fine woven surface, covering the continuous seat, low back and side panels. Two loose square cushions are positioned against the back for additional support.
Suitable for French Neoclassical interiors, drawing rooms, libraries and formal residential settings.
