Caned Colonial Armchair & Footstool

Drawing from colonial-era and Indo-European furniture traditions, this armchair combines a tall, sculpted silhouette with the lightness of woven cane. Its high back rises gently through a curved profile, framed by finely layered mouldings that emphasise the vertical form.

The chair features a woven cane back and seat, providing a natural textural contrast against the deep wood finish. Sweeping arms flow into turned and fluted front supports, while the pronounced apron and carefully turned legs give the chair a strong architectural presence. The matching footstool echoes the chair’s layered woodwork and cane surface, creating a coordinated pairing.

The combination of carved, turned wood and hand-woven cane makes this set particularly suited to reading rooms, studies, formal sitting areas and heritage-inspired interiors.

The frame can be crafted in teak wood, with oak or ash wood also available to suit the desired finish and interior scheme.

Made to order, with upholstery and finish selected for each commission.
