Louis XVI–Inspired Gilded Damask Sofa
This sofa draws from the Louis XVI period of French furniture design, combining neoclassical proportions with a carved and gilded wooden frame. The backrest features a gently curved continuous profile with upholstered side returns that extend into the arms, creating a unified seating structure. The exposed frame is finished in gold leaf, with carved detailing along the upper crest rail, arm supports and front apron. Its tapered, fluted legs reflect the characteristic geometry of late eighteenth-century French seating furniture, while the turquoise-blue upholstery features an intricate ivory floral damask pattern across the backrest, arms and seat. The patterned textile is complemented by decorative nailhead trim along the lower upholstered edge, providing a defined transition between the fabric and gilded frame.
The combination of curved upholstery, symmetrical construction and ornamental woodwork makes the sofa suitable for formal drawing rooms, heritage residences, reception areas, boutique hotels and classical interior projects. The frame can be crafted in teak wood, with upholstery and gilded finishes selected according to individual project requirements.
